Archaeology code of practice

None of our recommendations should prevent your enjoyment of 'beach-combing', as strandline finds have already been washed out of their original context; however the Museum is always interested to see these objects and will attempt to identify them for the finder. Do not clean anything picked up on the shore and wrap it to prevent damage.

Please do:
Note location of finds
Sketch/photo site Respect site instructions
Report finds
Further research

Please don't:
Attempt to remove objects
Enter private/scheduled property
Clean/repair finds
Use metal detectors
